President’s Letter

Hello!

I am honored to be the current President of Roseclair Eagles #2895 located in Roseville, Michigan. This year will be a year of positive change and transition for our Aerie as we work to set ourselves on course for long-term sustainability. I plan to try out new ideas and events that will help our Aerie gain new members so we can continue to support the Grand Aerie and our charities.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality by lessening life’s ills, and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness, and hope.

The F.O.E. was founded in February of 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician's strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to "bury the hatchet" and form "The Order of Good Things." As membership grew, the Bald Eagle was selected as the official emblem and the organization name was changed to "The Fraternal Order of Eagles." Presently, Eagles membership exceeds 800,000 members, with more than 1,500 local Aeries in the U.S. and Canada.
Women's auxiliaries total more than 1,300 members.

Some of our major accomplishments include:
• Founding Mother's Day
• Serving as a driving force in founding the Social Security Program
• Helping end job discrimination based on age with the "Jobs After 40" Program
• Distributing Ten Commandments monoliths and fighting to keep the Commandments in public places

Today, our organization donates over $100 million per year to local communities, fundraisers, charities, and more. As part of our philosophy, we give back 100 percent of the monies raised in the form of grants. Fundraisers are conducted for eight major charities; kidney, heart, diabetes, cancer, and spinal cord injury funds, a children's fund, memorial foundation, and the Golden Eagle Fund.

Some of our noteworthy members include US Presidents including: Theodore R. Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan, also entertainment personalities like Bob Hope, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tony Orlando, Lee Greenwood, Louise Mandrell, and Neal McCoy. We have sporting figures too, including Max Baer, Gordie Howe, Tony Stewart, Sam Hornish, and James Buescher.

If you are a member, I encourage you to attend one of our Aerie meetings to learn more about us. Regular meetings occur on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 7:30pm. If you are not a member, please feel free to contact me directly with any questions about our organization and to learn more about joining us. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
